Font Licensing

A font license gives you the right to use a font in certain, specified ways. You do not own the font itself, as the font is software and not a product.

The prices of our fonts are based on the size of your company. The size of your company means the number of employees and not the number of computers on which the fonts will be installed. It is crucial to specify the number of all employees, not just the number of users who will work with the fonts.

The licensing costs are based on the total number of your employees, ...
... not the number of computers or users who work with the fonts.

License Agreement (EULA)

This is an agreement between you, the purchaser, and TypeManufactur. In accepting the terms of this Agreement, you acknowledge understanding and promise to comply with its terms. If you do not accept the terms, please do not complete the purchase transaction.

Definitions: “Fonts” means the digital typeface software and all associated files provided by TypeManufactur. “Company Size” means the total number of employees of the legal entity licensed to use the Fonts, including full-time and part-time staff, whether or not they work directly with the Fonts. “Embedding” means including the Fonts in documents, websites, apps, or digital products in a manner that allows the rendering of text. All terms not explicitly defined here retain their commonly understood industry meaning.

This means “Fonts” are the font files, the price depends on your total company size (all employees, not just users), and “Embedding” means using the Fonts inside documents, websites, apps, or other digital products.

By purchasing from TypeManufactur, you obtain a perpetual, worldwide, non-exclusive and non-transferable license to use the ordered Fonts under the conditions of this Agreement. You are licensing the Fonts, not acquiring ownership, and your rights are limited to the specific uses granted herein. The Fonts and their design are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. All rights, title, and interest remain the exclusive property of TypeManufactur, and all rights not expressly granted are reserved.

This means that by buying a license you only acquire the right to use the Fonts. TypeManufactur retains full ownership of the typefaces, both as artwork and as software.

This license is personal to you and tied to the company size tier stated in your agreement or your invoice. It may not be assigned, shared, sub-licensed, sold or transferred, in whole or in part, to any other person or organization without prior written permission from TypeManufactur. A license may be purchased on behalf of a client, provided the client is named as the licensee and becomes the legal holder of the license. The purchasing party does not acquire any rights to use the Fonts unless separately licensed. The Fonts may not be supplied to any third party other than the named licensee.

This means the license is tied to one specific licensee: you can’t pass it on or share it, and if you buy it for a client, only that client may use the Fonts, not you.

Desktop fonts are provided in OpenType (OTF) format. Additional formats may be available upon request and may require supplemental licensing. Under a valid Desktop License, you may install and use the Fonts on any computers and devices of the licensing company for use by its employees. Any use beyond the licensed company-size tier requires the purchase of an additional license. Server-based installation is permitted, provided access to the Fonts is limited to employees of the licensee and not to any third party. Third-party use of the Fonts is not permitted. You may use the Fonts to create static, non-editable artwork provided the Fonts cannot be extracted, accessed, or used in editable form. Embedding the Fonts in any digital product, document, website, app, or device is not permitted under a Desktop License unless expressly covered by another license type you have purchased. Editable embedding and embedding in commercial products, software, games, or HTML5 content require a separate license.

This means the desktop license lets your company install the Fonts on its own devices and create static, non-editable artwork, but you may not share the font files with third parties or embed the Fonts in websites, apps, games, or other digital products without an additional license.

Webfonts are provided in WOFF and WOFF2 formats. Uploading OTF or other desktop formats to a web server, or converting the Fonts into web formats, is strictly prohibited. The Fonts may not be used with any web embedding or replacement technologies other than standard @font-face usage without supplemental licensing. Under the Web License, you may use the Fonts for the single domain specified in your invoice or this Agreement, including its subdomains, within your organization. Use on additional domains requires an additional license.

This means that you can use the fonts only on websites, not install them on your computers. A webfont license is only valid for one unique domain including any subdomains.

App fonts are supplied in OpenType (OTF) format. Under the App License, the Fonts may be embedded in the single app specified in your invoice or this Agreement, for use in native mobile or desktop applications on platforms such as iOS, Android, Windows or macOS. The Fonts may be used within the app for rendering, styling, viewing and editing text entered by the user. This includes any in-app text input or content creation. The Fonts must not be extractable, downloadable, or accessible outside of the app in editable form. Use in additional apps requires an additional license.

This means you may embed the Fonts in one specified mobile or desktop app, but you may not use them as desktop fonts or make the font files accessible outside the app.

eBook fonts are supplied in OpenType (OTF) format. Under the eBook License, you may embed the Fonts in the eBook and/or PDF titles specified in your invoice or this Agreement, for use in formats such as EPUB, PDF, or other comparable read-only digital publications. Embedding is permitted only in a manner that prevents extraction or editable use of the Fonts. Any additional titles or any editable embedding require an additional license.

This means you can embed the Fonts in your eBooks or commercial PDFs.

Corporate fonts are supplied in all available formats and may be installed and used on an unlimited number of computers, servers, websites, apps, and eBook/PDF titles within the same legal entity that holds the license. This includes all employees and internal teams of that entity, regardless of location. In addition, under the Corporate License you may use the Fonts in digital advertising, and you may embed the Fonts in office documents and templates and in HTML email templates and newsletters sent in your name. Use by subsidiaries, affiliates or external contractors is not permitted unless explicitly stated in this Agreement or covered by an additional license. Certain types of use, such as use in games, embedded devices (OEM), software offered as a service (SaaS), or making the Fonts available as a standalone service or download to third parties, are not covered by the Corporate License and require a separate agreement. The size tier and fee for the Corporate License are defined in this Agreement.

This means the corporate license combines all other license types for unlimited internal use across your own computers, websites, apps and eBooks, and also covers digital ads and office/email embedding, but you may not share them with subsidiaries, agencies or use them in games, OEM or SaaS without a separate agreement.

You may make archival copies of the Fonts for your own purposes. You may not share, lend, make available, or provide access to the Fonts or any copies thereof to any third party outside your organization, including agencies, freelancers, or printing services. Third parties must receive only print-ready, non-editable documents. You may not modify, convert, adapt, decompile, or otherwise reverse engineer or create derivative works of the Fonts.

This means you may keep backup copies for yourself, but you must never share the Fonts or modify or convert them into other formats in any way.

You may embed the licensed Fonts into any document you send to third parties in a secured "Preview & Print" mode, as long as the document itself is not a commercial product. You may not under any circumstances embed the licensed Fonts into software or hardware products in which the Fonts will be used by the purchasers of such products. Such use requires the purchase of supplemental licensing.

This means that you can embed the Fonts into PDFs for viewing and printing, but you may not embed the Fonts in software, apps, or devices that your customers use. That kind of product needs a separate license.

We have done everything we can to produce our Fonts to the highest and most up-to-date technical standards, and we test them extensively in technically compliant applications. If you encounter technical issues, we will gladly assist you to the best of our ability.

This means we aim for high technical quality and will try to help if you run into problems.

Except for the warranty that TypeManufactur has the rights to license the Fonts, the Fonts are provided “as is” without any other express or implied warranties. To the maximum extent permitted by law, TypeManufactur shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special or punitive damages, and its total liability shall not exceed the amount paid for the license. This license terminates automatically if you breach this Agreement. Upon termination, you must cease all use of the Fonts and delete all copies.

This means the Fonts come without further guarantees, TypeManufactur’s liability is limited to your license fee.

If any part of this Agreement is held invalid, the remaining provisions remain in effect. Changes to this Agreement require written consent from TypeManufactur. This Agreement is governed by German law, and the exclusive venue for disputes is the court of TypeManufactur’s registered seat. The UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG) does not apply.

This means the rest of the Agreement still applies if one part is invalid, changes need TypeManufactur’s written consent, and disputes are governed by German law.

Your data will only be stored as far as necessary to process your order and provide you with an invoice. It will not be passed on to third parties except where required by law or necessary to fulfil this contract. If you have any questions regarding data protection, please contact us at

This means we only store what’s needed for your order and invoice, don’t share it except where legally required, and you can contact us.

We grant the rights of use of our Fonts to you in good faith and request that you adhere to the terms of this Agreement accordingly.
